"tell us something about yourself"
Some fandoms are waiting for season 10, others for episode 10.I love how people justknow
Anonymous said: Hello Different anon here but seeing as you want to talk about ITF: could you tell me about Simon and Kieren's relationship? Give me everything, anything - headcanons, observations, most painfully beautiful moments, predictions, tell me about their kisses and their conversations. Honestly I feel like ITF meta has become a sort of a fix that I need to get (think in lines of Neurotriptyline), so the more you have the better.
Before I start off, I just want to say that Simon and Kieren’s relationship is one of my favourite parts of the show and any of my controversial opinions doesn’t mean I do not ship them so much it actually makes my heart burst.
However saying that I do believe that as of yet, they do not love each other. At least not in the way of a healthy relationship. They have a long way to go as characters, before they do.
Simon, at first, had an angle. He was manipulating Kieren because he was under the impression it would be easy to do so. No doubt Amy told him all about Rick, and how Kieren was blind to the faults in their relationship. So Simon, as he did with most of the undead, played on Kieren’s weakness. That is his ability to love, unaware of problems. Scenes I think support this go as followed:
However Kieren has grown up a lot since Rick. And didn’t let Simon’s manipulation through.
There first kiss was the moment that Simon began to realise he didn’t want to manipulate Kieren.
At first he’s unsure about reciprocating Kieren’s kiss, he trembles slightly, letting his hands hover over Kieren’s cheeks. He feels that the manipulation might of gone too far. But ignited by Kieren’s passion, Simon realises that he actually wants it. He wants Kieren. He wants the kiss. And he doesn’t need to manipulate Kieren, he doesn’t see a reason to anymore. This is the moment that the ULA begins to lose Simon. Because before Simon only had the ULA to fill the depression of his first life, now he has Kieren. And the hesitance to join the ULA, returns as he questions his beliefs. Simon realises there is more to his second life then the ULA and his religious beliefs.
Kieren also begins the relationship in the wrong way. During a moment on confusion and frustration he kisses Simon, and his thought process to me looks like 'Fuck it'
No doubt he was attracted to Simon, the poetry reciting mystery with shadows for hair and moonlight for skin. But withdrew from his feelings because of his past relationship with Rick. During that relationship he never acted on his feelings, and was punished for doing so (mix-tape incident). Now, he’s done with that, he’s tired of not being able to act on his feelings. He wants to grow up, move on and actually find a someone he doesn’t need to be ashamed to have feelings for. It could of been anyone, it just happened that Simon was there. And how much of a match they are for each other.
However after an evening to cool down after the kiss, which Kieren must of thought constantly. Unable to escape what he did. Preparing countless speeches to give to Simon, evaluating whether or not he made a mistake. Kieren goes to the bungalow so expecting Simon to act as Rick would. And in a moment, where Kieren thinks he made a mistake kissing Simon, Kieren retreats.
But he’s surprised that Simon stops him from leaving, he didn’t expect that. This is the moment where I think the love aspect begins. Simon (who has long since given up the manipulation) is willing to pour out his heart to convince Kieren to stay. The both want this and this scene is the moment they establish that with each other.
What follows the "there’s what I believe then there’s you scene" is aspects of a normal relationship.
Simon wanting to explore Kieren’s world, as a break from his heavy handed religious one. And Kieren thanking him for it, ready to begin a new relationship. Simon’s nervous attempts to win over Kieren’s parents.
Then it goes wrong. Simon had already begun to forget his strict personal rules (he puts cover-up on, is cool with Gary, doesn’t argue at the lunch) but then his mission comes right into focus again when he thinks that Kieren is the first risen. The love that was growing for Kieren is replaced my awe.
Here is why I think this is going to be dangerous for Kieren and Simon. Simon used the ULA to fill the hole left by his personal belief that life is meaningless. Now he’ll fill that with Kieren. Whether Kieren will be able to deal with this, plus the fact that Simon hasn’t yet told him his real reason for being in the graveyard, I am unsure of. He’s a very three dimensional character, so I am unsure if he will take this badly or well. Accepting Simon, even though the past might catch up to them. As a wannabe screenwriter, how I would end it would be the suicide of Simon. That would mirror Kieren’s own suicide to really stab the viewers hearts. But you know, I’m a heartless bitch when it comes to my writing so who knows what Dominic Mitchell will do for them.
Saying all that, because of my unsureness of Siren, it doesn’t mean I don’t find these moments genuine and proof of the feelings Kieren and Simon could develop to have for one another.
I’m 100% sure that they can move past the restrictions put upon them by the business with the ‘ULA’ and ‘first risen’. And really begin to love each other for who they are. Helping one another accept their new lives. The reason I’m hesitant of their “love” now is that they have a long way to go as characters.
Favourite Siren Scene- "There’s what I believe, and then there’s you."
Favourite Siren Kiss- Second One
Favourite Siren Relationship Attribute- The sweetness/ shyness
Guess for Siren in series 3- A grisly end, that brings acceptance.
Favourite Siren Headcannon- That Simon had read all of Kieren’s letters to Amy before they met. And went to the graveyard super excited to meet him!
